Free Initial Consultation

If you don't feel quite ready to book your first appointment or are not sure which therapist you would like to work with, you can start with a free, no obligation 30-minute consultation. 

You can book an appointment time by emailing info@arrivetherapy.com or by filling out the contact form.  

At the time of your scheduled consultation, an Arrive therapist will call you. During your discussion, you can talk about your goals for therapy, and what type of therapist you want to work with, and we will match you with the best therapist for you. 

Your First Appointment

Time

Your first appointment is 90 minutes long, which is different from a normal therapy appointment, which is 50-55 minutes.

What to expect

This initial meeting is called an “intake” and will be more formal than normal therapy sessions. You will be able to talk and share what is on your heart, but we will have a lot of questions to ask you about your history, etc. We can take also more than one appointment to get all the information. There is no pressure.

Forms

There will be some forms to fill out before your intake that will help us get to know why you are coming and how we can best support you. This will help us get oriented to your family, social, and mental health history.

Although we won’t be able to get to know everything about you, many people report feeling a sense of relief after the first appointment and are glad that they finally decided to come for therapy.

Space for you

If you are trans, questioning your gender, experiencing gender dysphoria, or figuring out your sexuality, we will support you through that process. Whatever you are working through, we will encourage you, at times, to take the next steps. There is space for whatever you want to bring to the therapy room. 

We will listen to you, but also challenge you. 

Therapy works best when you try new things and make changes in your life. We will pepper our sessions with bits and pieces of information or insights that help you think differently about things. We will ask you key questions that help you reflect and guide your thought process in new and different directions. We will ask you a series of questions that challenge negative thinking patterns.  

You will find places inside you that you did not know were there.
